My first car (3 years ago now) was this lovely Scamp:

Me and my dad spent a few weekends getting it tidied up and ready for the road.
Had great fun in it, trip to newquay, few shows and generally enjoying the good weather to the full.
However, due to the fact it leaked like a seive when it rained, had no heater or stereo and it cost me £500 to insure it for 3 months I had to sell it.
Every hot day since then I have missed it dearly!
Until about a month ago when it came up for sale again.
My Dad bought it and (hopefully) I'll be able to do it back up ready for the L2B this year!

When we got it back it looked like this:

Somewhat neglected :mrcool:
It came with a boot full of spares, a couple wheels, tyres, exhaust and loads of bits and pieces and has some seats from a Rover 220 coupe fitted (which I might steal for my car...)
The engine that was in it was a 1275 from a sprite, but had just been slotted in, not connected or running.
We decided that we would change it to a lower mileage 998 which we had and knew was reliable (and cheaper on insurance).
So I had a few days off from Uni and got started changing the engine:

Disconnecting and removing the old engine...

The wiring mess! (that's Dad's job)

This taken just as I tripped over the tool box :teehee:

Engine out!

Getting the 998 in!

And it's in!
Couple things to do, get radiator mount sorted:

Other things I had to do:

Drivers side bottom ball joint looked like that!
Looks like the wheel fell off whilst driving or something!
New hub went on.

And the driver's side front tie bar looked like this:

But we were provided with a spare so that went on as well.

So, still need to get the wiring sorted (gunna take at least a day) and then get the engine started but because the body's made from aluminium
we don't need to worry about rust!
Also might have a set of sportspack wheels to go on, should fill the arches a bit better!
Thanks for looking, should have more updates soon!
Also got more pictures of the car when I had it if anyone wants me to post these up?

Nah, it's not running yet.
Not really any big plans for it, just tidy it up really. The paint's chipped everywhere.
Gunna attempt to fit a heater somehow and possibly a stereo, however i think a retro boom box would be better!
It does have a rear bench seat fitted (no belts) but it's brown so I think that'll be coming out!

Cheers Darkscamp, think i've seen yours on rat-look?
I'm doing london to brighton hopefully in the scamp if it's motd by then.
And hopefully Riviera Run, you doin either of those?
