My mini. A1985 B reg with a little over 40k miles on the clock. In red with afew bit's of miss matched paint. This is where there was a little bit of rust and I've taken it back to bare metal and used the wrong shade of red to protect it. Had new rear arches and rear valance welded in last year. There is a dent in the drivers door and a small one on the boot lid. Cat 1 alarm immobiliser, 6x9 speakers and cd player. Stage 2 maniflow manifold with lcb and fletcher side exit exhaust. Literally loads of history from day one. I've cataloged the lot. 12 inch mws minilites with yoko a539 tyres, and stage 2 race arches. Can't upload pictures as on iPhone. I'm thinking of selling for £2k. That sound reasonable???

Sounds reasonable, depending on the dent sizes, paint etc for a more or less rust free mini 2k doesn't seem bad, might be worth putting on fleabay with a reserve and plenty of pictures to test the water.

Presuming it has an MOT of over 8 months and bearing in mind it needs paint and panel work I would consider its value to be around the £800 mark

I'm not no expert but come on it's worth more than £800. I've seen projects that are rotten going for like £500-£800 on eBay.

Ive been following mini prices (almost sadly) for a couple of years and well countless people on here would give you 800 for it and make a quick turnaround on fleabay.

Bearing in mind that a few weeks ago an original condition low mileage mayfair in excellent condition was up for £1750, i'd guess £800 to £1000 is about right. Everyone said the mayfair was very overpriced too. Yours needs some panelwork and a respray to make good at least, it's not standard so insurance will be an expensive problem for younger drivers.

Wise words ........

Look guys the government may claim the recession is over, but it is not!

Yes, Mini residuals are improving year on year but buyers are not stupid, they know what resprays cost and the price of buying and fitting panels in a professional manner.

Fair play to the owner of this car, he has been totally honest on the points that are less than perfect, but thinking a Mini is worth a figure without previous research or industry knowledge is just hyping the market and giving the poor bloke a dream that is never going to be achievable in the real world

I agree £2k isn't achievable. On a very good eBay day you'd get £1200, on a bad day £900

Some decent pictures would help the valuatiion though, wing seams/floors/body damage etc

Agreed, pictures would be good, but no idea how to do that from an iPhone. Floors etc are all original, having taken out the interior the floors are a1. There's not really any rust on the whole of the front end, usual places are strangely rust free. Rust around top of windscreen, but this appears to be as a result of stone chips or similar, the rust is not coming from beneath the windscreen rubber, that is all good. I did find a little rust under the passenger side door seal, which I stripped back and sprayed. Bottom corner of drivers door had done the same. If she's not worth £2k even with such low mileage and all the history then I'll just keep her forever lol. First owner was a doctor and car was serviced by Audi. Csome people have more money than sense lol. 4 previos keepers, but the last two were mother and son. Was rolling roaded at motoscope and makes significantly more power than standard.
