Engine Will Only Run On Choke, Wont Tick Over Off Choke

Hi, My problem is with my mini mayfair 1987 998cc, it seems to be fine on the choke runnin at 2000 rpm but wont tick over off choke?

all engine parts are standard, it has done 39000 miles

Up.

Or give it a good tune, drive it like you stole it, then set the mix again.

wouldnt run it at 2k rpm with choke on, run it at 1k or a little over

but yeh sounds like mixture might need adjusting

It ould be an air leak on the induction system.
Split in the enclosed breather hose, cracked inlet manifold?

stupid question but it has to be asked as i noticed your new to the forum, are you letting the engine get warm first?

Yeah thats fine, yeah let it run with the choke till its at the right temp so half or so on the gauage, then take it off and it just drops quick and cuts out elles you rev it ?

haha no worries, im not that dull otherwise buying a mini would be the complete wrong car as they need tlc ;)

i didnt know ANYTHING about cars at all when i bought my mini..just jumped in an learnt as i dismantled ;)

Basically, under the carb..thing connected to air filter, underneath it should have a long piece with some nuts, viewing from above...turn it anticlockwise until it can dile when warm...then some more till it once again starts to suffer and then turn it clockwise a couple of flat turns
