Earlier today i noticed water drippin from my new ish heater element, so dismantled it to inspect to see where the leak was coming from, now afetr i dismantled it i noticed it got alot warmer than usual (i wreckon there was air trapped because i tilted it during dismantling)

anyway after that i ran the engine with heater tap open to find a leak and it was bone dry after runnin for ten mins

anyway my question is this, could an air trap force water to leak from the two plugged areas at the bottom of the heater?

and if it isnt and its still leaking from this area would a smearing of RTV be able to cope with the heat and keep it sealed?

i ask about RTV as iv used it when making a gasket out of my old frosties cereal box to help a seal and well i imagine that gets damn hot

Not sure what the question is matey! You say it's not leaking - yet you want to seal a leak ??

nono...it was leaking.....but since i tilted it during removal..and then ran the engine to find the leak i noticed no leak plus it got stupidly hotter than it did before...

which is why im askin...could an air lock in the heater element cause water to be forced out through the small plugged up holes at the bottom of the heater (heater is for my '89 model so inlet and outlet next to each other on bottom right corner)

isnt it bottom left?

but the leak may be why you have air in there in the first place
