Youtube.
It's alive... SMC have got it started, it seem's that the drive spindle for the dizzy had been thrown in at any angle, (not by me, but I guess when the engine was made to look nice by the person I bought it off) the timing was 120 degrees out if that's possible?
Can't get it dyno'd yet the nearside CV joint that I rushed to finish for L2B has popped out, so they are gonna check that out then call me for the dyno session, hope to get some video and 55-60 bhp?

A few other little set backs, (this car is cursed) Sleaford Mini centre did the drive shaft but when they tried to drive it onto the dyno the clutch plate was rusted to the flywheel (my fault for leaving it under a tarpaulin in the garden for a year). They freed that off and did the dyno, 48.9 bhp at the wheels and 58 ftlbs torque at 3400 rpm

not exactly a rocket ship but not bad for a standard 1275 i suppose. Then off for the MOT, they pre-checked it and all seemed ok till the tester looked for the VIN plate, seems the previous owner has took it off/replaced panels with it on,
so it was an instant FAIL. These things are sent to try us, what doesn't kill you only make's you stronger.

Got to Stanford Hall and back OK, good day out but... didn't have the right breather for the
the clutch housing, the one that is bent to miss the brake servo, so blanked it off, (you know what's coming) think the clutch oil seal has gone because the clutch is now slipping and there is oil coming out the bottom of the housing, (welcome back to Mini ownership).

Stripped the clutch, no prob's getting it off, ordered new seal and fitting tool, I'm a bit miffed that fitting tool was not in stock as it didn't say "out of stock" when i bought it, they sent me the seal and now I'm paying delivery twice,
and it's not in till the 8th.
Bit more play in the primary gear than i would wish for, may order another shim but at £28 seems a bit steep for what it is.

Edit: If you ever decide to re-shim the primary gear, check out wood and pickett 1st £12 inc postage. grrrr

Finally got the clutch oil seal fitting tool from Mini spares, I suppose it gave me chance to add to the order, it's was so easy to use that it was a bit of an anti-climax when I got the seal fitted, kind of a "is that it" not like the usual 2hr struggle.

Decided to get a 0.120" thrust washer and the rear bush for the primary gear as the bush was fairly scored, got the Mini Spares floating bush again no drama fitting it, and now have 0.005" play in the primary gear not 0.014" that i had before.

Cleaned the pressure plate and flywheel, first with and engine degreaser and dried off with an air gun, then cleaned the friction areas of them with thinners then brake cleaner, think that should be clean enough, had a friction plate from another engine that had only done 26,000 miles so am using that, it still has plenty on it.

Lapped on the pressure plate Boss with fine valve paste, and followed the Haynes manual, again no drama's other than i couldn't get to the lock tab to knock it out, that's as far as got today so will try again tomorrow.

I ended up using the side of a cold chisel in the slot rather that trying to hit the end of a 5" chisel in a 4" space, worked a treat.

Adjusting the clutch throw out i only had one 24mm spanner and i didn't fancy grinding it down to fit so made this, don't you
just love plasma cutters.

Got around to bending the clutch oil breather.

Dressed the weld.

Prepared for paint.

No blue left so will be silver, same as the clutch housing.

Fitted the breather, it's a bit tight to the brake master cylinder.

Went out for a drive, the clutch work's fine, but had a heavy down pour and with the heater, wipers and lights on think I've blown a fuse as the wipers are now half way up the windscreen.
