Buy a Haynes manual, source a decent 1275 unit, remove old 998, replace with 1275.
If you have some £££ and time, get the engine reconditioned and the gearbox checked over before dropping it in with a new clutch and swap everything over. I am no mechanical expert but with an engine hoist, time, patience and lots of help from the guys on here it all came together.
Alternatively, spend the money on getting your 998 to perform. With the right additions you will get almost to 1275 power with a lot less hassle in some cases.

i managed to the job in 12 hours, split over 2 days. 6 hours a day. i did it all by myself, with an engine hoist, and 3 floor jacks, and two jack stands. took some fanagaling, but it got done. my advice to you, is soak everything in wd40 the night before.and when removing the engine, remove that carb. it made life so much easier that way. and thats all i had to remove, both for taking the engine out, and putting the engine in.

You'll need a bigger carb, and perhaps a distributor with a different advance curve
Are you going to be building the 1275 yourself? Getting 90 bhp will involve stripping it, a possible rebore, fitting a sportier cam and getting a fancy cylinder head.

Whether to get as much as i can out of my 998cc, tune it up as much as i can.
OR
buy a 1.3 and tune it up to 90 BHP.
What would be the cheapest or best thing to do for my car???

just because he has 12" wheels fitted does not me he has disc's he may still have drums fitted
if you have the standard 8.4 disc brakes they you dont need to change them
but could upgrade to mtroe 4 pot cailpers once you have more power
