Just checked on some other Rapido auctions which say they're about Max 700KG.

anything over 460kg i think you can't tow with a mini. i will be getting an eriba puck caravan in time but I'll be pulling it with a honda engined mini so the power is there. You just have to be carefully about the weight

also the towing weight for a van is less than a saloon, as it's lighter....

Apart from the above points, it looks too wide for a mini. You'd have to drive all the time as if you were in a transit or something. You only need to forget once ...

you can only tow 365 kilos in a mini van as opposed to 405 kg in a saloon :)

do people find there mini struggles power wise when towing (1275)? thinking of towing my trials bike and trailor. worried it will be to much strain on engine over a period of time

I doubt towing would be a strain on the engine. It's just if the weight is too great then it can make the car and it's trailer unstable.

I've seen lots of cars that are not really suitable to tow caravans (far too small) on their sides on motorways during heavy side winds. We spotted one just after the Severn Bridge whilst driving home from Bristol Mini Day 2008.

Check the video, if renault 5 can pull a massive caravan like that with erm no problem at all, you could easily pull that with a 1275. >_<

Personally I'd be worried about the tow bracket on a van - theres not a lot to mount it to at the back - the fuel tank is kinda in the way of pulling from the subframe...

yeah i didnt think of the fuel tank, would the tow bar not go underneath the tank and bolt onto the subframe? just thought it would be nice to take to mini shows lol, never mind, looks like i'm back to the tent after all lol! thanks for all your help guys!
