Hi all,

I bought i mini end of last year (84 city 1000 E) it should of had twin clocks i think, but the guy had ripped them out and put a HOME MADE dash in with center smith clock.

I have just fitted the correct speedo cable and it works, but its random as to what speed i'm doing, in fact its not even close.

My question is how to fix it?

Do i need to get it calibrated or is it something to do with the voltage stabiliser?

Also to ad my fuel gauge doesn't work either.

Many thanks Mike

it wont be the voltage stabiliser as it is purely mechanical. is the cable screwed in all the way on the back and in the gearbox end? i had a similar experience and just swapped the speedo over and has been fine ever since.

Im sure there are a couple different speedo cable drives? Maybe it is the worng one you have? Also, i had a similar problem when i had the three dial cluster in mine and it was a problem where the cable wasnt properly attached to the back of the dial itself. so sometimes it would come free and the needle would drop to 0 and would suddenly catch again and go right up the dial then down again.
