Have a look at page 3 of my post, Mpi spluttering under acceleration, I have placed my PBV beside teh brake servo

Do the Boost Valves make much difference to the performance of a standard MPI Cooper Sport with K&N and 3" tail pipe (with catalytic converter)?

Thanks

From what I am aware the Valve does not "boost the power" it mearly steps up the pressure on the fuel rail to compensate for a larger demand for fuel from a larger head.

Only thing you are likely to see on a standard mpi would be a slightly quicker uptake on acceleration on teh car. But this will be ver very minimum.

Personlally I would not waste the £80 on this if your car is standard, or if you have a tuned car that is not having issues.

As I said in my post I used to run a stage 3 mpi, sw5i cam, 1.5.1 rockers, alloy TB and k&n for arond 2 months. The car used to run like a dream, infact even better than it does now. One day I drove to work and it was spluttering all over the place. Installing the Pressure Valve resolved these issues.

have you ever had your car on a rolling road and had the fuel mapping worked out? Was there a definite improvement in torque? A simple series resistor on the air temp sensors seems to put the fueling on mine up significantly, to be honest I unclear of the need for the new pressure regulator...

All this does is fool the car to over fueling, by thinking its sucking in air colder than it is. Basically BAD, with a capital B A D

this does not up the fuel pressure, it over fuels the car. Not really the same. Infact you can get the same result buy removing the Green sensor plug from the inlet manifold. The car will then default on the ECU.

My issue with my car was pressure related, and this can only be solved by fitting a bigger fuel pressure valve and the largest you can get for the mpi is 3.0 bar.... or fit and adjustable one :dontgetit:
