OK
Last year i put my Allegro through an MOT, before the "big day" i was having problems with the hazard lights and i remember reading on a government website that i didnt actually need them because of the age of the car (1979), the tester also confirmed that i didnt need them, but because i had the switch they had to work.
Now I have a mini and its MOT is booked, the thing is i cant find the website.
The car is from 1977, 2 years older then the agg. There isnt a harzard light switch in the car, surely this proves i dont need them(?).
Can anyone confirm that I dont need Hazard lights, or link me to a website stating this.
The car when i bought it was completly standard, and DIDNT have harzard lights or a place for the switch to go.
this is just a little bit of last minute panicking
thanks guys

I don't know the dates but I'm pretty sure you don't. I think it was early 80's it became a necessity. My '75 Viva doesn't have hazards at all and it passed an MOT no problem. Neither does it have fog lights, reverse light, rear seat belts etc etc. If you have them, they must work. If not, you should be fine.

Simple, whatever age the vehicle, if there is a hazard switch, it MUST work and so should the tell tale...
however, if the vehicle was first used before 1st April 1986 a Hazard warning system is NOT required.

my Scamp doesnt have them and it passes everytime although its a 1970 car.
I had a 1982 mini and it passed everytime with no hazards because it didnt have a switch.
edit: doh, guessworks got there first, again
