1994 1275cc Carb, Verto clutch

Hellow,

I'm trying to get my flywheel off and i've managed to strip the thread off the smaller bolts on two pullers now. Am I doing it right?
Black studs through the silver 'puller' and into the flywheel,
Huge bolt into the middle of the puller and screw in agains the metal 'cup' which is placed on the end of the crank.

What am I doing wrong?

Ryan :(

Ive taken the big bolt out and the locking washer behind that, I can see the shiny bit with the horizontal cut out of it.

If you have taken somethin that looks like this out, then youve done everything right, and its probably just siezed on.

Just tighten the puller up, and give it a wack with a hammer, worked for me :(

Get a blowtorch on the flywheel boss, heat it up and it'll jump right off :(

Do you have the right bolts I take it? There is two types (mine got stripped when I used the wrong set)

this is what i do;

Screw on the flywheel puller, making sure its Perfectly Level.

Then screw the centre bolt so it feels like its pushing against the crank.

Then smack the centre bolt with a copper mallet a few times and turn the bolt again a few turns. Repeat as required.

Word of caution though, if partially seized, the flywheel can 'pop' off without warning and land heavily on your toe :(

As darkscamp has said, make sure the puller is level and square to the flywheel and not pulling at an angle, Ive never had to heat up a flywheel to get it off (not yet anyway). The tighten up really really really tight, couple hits with hammer tighten again etc.

yeah, the bigger set of bolts don't fit in at all.

I'm not looking forward to this job...

I've never found it to be a hard job.

Just take your time and it'll come off in the end.

I too have never had heat one up but one did take a while to come off. My mate has also had one where he tightened it up, smacked it a few times but it still wouldn't budge. A couple more turns but still nothing, so he left the puller on while he went to bed. In the middle of the night he heard a bang downstairs, went down and the clutch was lying on the floor :(

hi this going to sound a bit drastic i had the same problem and my mate and it worked for both of us, i heated it up for a a while with a blow torch where the flywheel sits on the crank, went in had a cup of tea came out tightened it more wacked it with a hammer came off no problem not had a problem with it since comes off all the time now.
