Hi,

Ive just removed the cylinder head on my 1275cc manual carb K reg mini. Im currently doing a kind of engine overhaul just basically replacing all external components, changing gaskets, seals etc and was wanting to know this (bear in mind im not very mechanically minded)

Im interested in this stage 2 cylinder head...

http://www.minisport...EDMS5006UL.html

if i was to buy this, fit it to my mini, take my original roller rockers, springs etc off my old rubbish cylinder head and fit them as removed to the stage 2 head, would i then need to do anything else ie tweak or adjust things to get my car to woek with the new cylinder head?

Sorry but my mechanical knowledge and tuning of engine is poor.

Before anyone says...i know once its up and running I WILL get it rollling road tested.

thanks

Personaly I would get your own head modified rather than buying minisports "knocked out" heads, much better going to a proper head modifiers. As for tweaking you will need a rolling road set up, other than that its the same as a standard head swap, if the engines out it may be worth while upgrading the cam for even more power, but it depends how involved you want to get.

if your letting more air into the engine with the modded head you will also need to let more fuel in

this is why you need the rolling road set up to find the night needle through out the rev range

Hi !

I have the same head fitted on an MG Metro engine, the difference between before and after is astonishing.

The engine revs more freely and higher and have an improved acceleration.

This engine is also fiited with a stage one kit and made 84 bhp on the rollers.

I also have a Morspeed, a Janspeed and a Longman (piece of art) heads at home and all I can say is that the Minisport head, assuming it is not the same price and it is not the same finish as the others I have, is not as bad as some people often says.

Hope this helps.
