what really needs to happen is all the lorry drivers delivering the stuff to go on strike and block all the motorways.

that alone would bring the country to a grinding halt. hard not to notice that!

Do it! ;)

I say a revoke on the two main petrol stations is in order... Esso and perhaps Texaco?

Along with the jamming of motor-ways ;)

for the amount of effort that goes into getting fuel from under the ground to your car is 2p really that bad?
after all the tax on petrol is massive,
if you really want to save 2p dont over fill your kettle or turn your light off :dontgetit:

Yep, 2p is bugger all at the end of the day.
But 2p on every litre really adds up.
So yeah, I'd say 2p is a lot, and it feels like a lot more during a recession.
And that 2p isn't going to the people that drill it out the ground so you're argument is pretty much invalid.
Plus, the tax on petrol is what this thread is about.

my arguement is in no way invalid, if you think saving 2p is that important you be doing it in every aspect of living,
not just buying petrol but when buying food (own brands) clothes (charity shops) cars (economical diesel smart cars 60+mpg) etc.
if your doing all these then fair enough the 2p on petrol is a problem, but otherwise theres a few ways you can save 2p.

there my 2p  :)

my issue is not just the latest hike of 2p, but the fact its gone up from 59p/litre to £1.13/litre in the last 10 years. The majority of which is increases in tax by the government. They may say they are only putting 2p on at the pumps but that also increases the cost of delivering it to the stations as they use that fuel. Not to mention the increase in import tax on the oil that they dont tell us about. I think the current tax at the pumps is 84% of the current £1.13, so who should we really be demonstrating against, considering the oil companies are only charging us 16% of the £1.13 (about 18p/litre)

i can see what your saying there,
it would be nice if there was a means of seeing exactly what our taxes get spent on, we could decide maybe??

is there not a saying along the lines of
theres only 3things certain in life, birth, death and taxes in between!
