Windows Squeaking

I say squeak, but it's more like a screech. It's when i try winding my windows up or down in dry weather. It happened just yesterday. How can i stop this happening, because it's quite embarrassing

Squirt some WD40 on the runners ?

Or better still remove the door trims and grease the runners and mechanism.
