Your Mum being fully comp on the Mini means she is insured to drive it. You are not. You need insurance. Become a named driver on her policy, making sure they know you are a learner.

well no not really as you'd be the driver not your mother so if you get into a crash thats it minis gone.

get some provisional insurance on the go as with some companies the minute you take out provisional insurance your NCB's start to build up.
i got 1 year 2 years NCB on my provisional with Quinn Direct

it can be more or it could be less
just depends on the quotes you get and from what companies you go to, to get those quotes

900 quid is cheap and if you did get it atleast you'll have 1 years no claims when it comes to renewing the insurance.

would deffo do as dan said as well though, see how much it will cost to be a named driver under your mums policy

my instructor took me for a private lesson off road because ma dad knows him he said i should only need no more than 10 lessons and i should be able to book my test within 4weeks of my birthday so i dont know if it worth it as ill only use it for 4 weeks

If you get insurance now as a provisional licence holder, when you pass your test you can just call them up and amend your details so that they know youre now a full license holder. they might charge you a bit more, or they might just ask for an admin fee, but i dont see how its going to make it any more expensive for you to take out an insurance policy now. and as people are saying you can start building your NCB immediately.
