Is there any way of getting rid of them? I'm planning on subs but i have two 6x9 shaped holes in my parcel shelf. ;)

Cover them over with carpet and wire mesh? that way sound can travel through easier? hmm but i guess the boot was supposed to be a sealed compartment in-case of fumes and such.

I have the same problem!

I was considering cutting out the parcel shelf altogether, because apparently it isn't a structural neccesity. But then my dad raised a good point, which is if i ever get shunted from behind, the entire rear of the car may cave in more without the parcel shelf metal resisting it a bit.

I may end up having to have one sub, in between two 6x9's.

That would be pretty awesome!

.. or 1 6x9 and make the other hole bigger to fit the sub in!

;) sorted =P

To be honest, if someone does shunt the back of the car, it's a Mini, so i should really expect catastrophic damage ;)

I think i may end up having to make do with one 8" sub. ;) Surely people have managed to fill up holes left by 6x9's?

You can get new parcel shelf panels can you not? If not just cut the rest of the metal out and get another bit of metal cut it to the right shape and weld that in place. I know Prawn did that to his car. He cut the standard metal out and cut a bit of ally to the right shape and put that their to save weight.

If you cut the old panel out leaving about an inch of the original all the way round you could use a piece of flat plate and make a new one and you will have something thats easy to weld to.
