Hi, my car has its mot on wednesday. On checking it over, I noticed that on both the seat hoops (which bolt through he floor) the front thread has broken off and therefore the hoop is only secured to the floor via it's rear bolt. They are still sturdy; and the seat still locks into position, The hoops cant be moved by pulling on the seat. You wouldnt be able to tell unless you knew you were looking for the frontnut under the car.
Will this be OK for a mot? The car is off the road at the moment, and I'll be struggling to get to a breakers to get some new ones in time. They will be replaced as soon as I can, just not sure I can get it done for the MOT.
Thanks
JJ

The test is not the bracket to the floor. If the seat is secure when locked into position, then it should be ok.

But if the bracket that holds the seat down is broken, the seat isn't secure.
This should be a fail but the tester may not be aware of how much free play it should have and so may not notice the problem. You could always fit an additional bolt through the large plate at the end of the hoop.

Cars built after a certain year have to have restrained seats.
