Hey TMF this is my first post

Ok basically I have got a 1997 Mini Cooper for an early birthday present and will be learning to drive in it in 2 weeks. In the mean time I decided to buy a Sony Mex-BT2700 headunit and some Ripspeed 6x9's ( half price at £17 it was a crime to say no :dontgetit: ).

I want to install the 6x9's but I do not want to cut the metal of the mini. There is a few options to my knowledge (of browsing this forum); buying pods for the parcel shelf ( optimise automotive springs to mind ) , or mounting them on a kick board under the back seats.

My question is, what is everyone's personal view on these options and how do I re-wire the head-unit to adapt to the new 6x9 cables ( the halfords tech said I had to remove a grey and a white cable from the headunit? ) . The Sony headunit is fitted at the moment and is using the standard wires to the old speakers.

Thanks Rob :)

you're right about the mounting options,
on the rear shelf would be best for sound quality as is you mount them under the rear seat all the sound is getting absorbed by the back of the front seats.
if you are replacing the standard speakers with these then just use the original wiring buy cutting the speaker plugs off and connecting the wire upto the new speakers.
don't be expecting great things from ripspeed speakers though.......
