im having problems with my carb setup, the car idles & accelarates fine when running on the choke, but once the choke is off the idle speed decreases and when i try to accelarate the engine just splutters then dies
ive tried changing the air/ fuel mixture on the carb but this seems to have no effect.
when i make it run rich it spluttes then bilds up revs but still spluttery and unstable, and the leaner i make it run it just splutters then dies.

i recently fitted a stage 1 exhaust system with new inlet & outlet manifolds and the kit came with a AAU needle which i havent used as i thought it would make it use more fuel.

can anyone help?

The AAU needle will make it use more fuel but that's because it'll need more fuel! What air filter are you using? K&N cone? Filter element?

Try it with the AAU needle (that's what I was using after I fitted my stage 1).

You'd be best going for a Mini friendly rolling road tune as they'll be able to give you and/or tweak a needle to be perfect for you. They'll also set up your timing. Have you even checked your timing?
