what about changing the bulbs to brighter xenon type

They are not road legal so you use at your own risk

The basics are bulbs have to be safety marked like seatbelts, tyres, airbags and the like. Any HID bulb that fits in place of a halogen bulb can not be safety marked for this application and in so is not road legal.

regardless of being E marked fitting aftermarket hid kits into any cars that didnt come with the HID option from factory is illegal.

To be allowed HIDS you need to of been able to have option from factory, of auto headlight adjusters, washer pumps and for the headlamp unit to not be a reflector. Given they do look good in cars and do increase vision of the road at night, they are a royal PITA for other road users and i have seen a crash from someone who blinded an oncoming driver as they hadnt adjusted their HIDS properly. Please take it into consideration and if you must get HIDS make sure you get the correct cluster at least so it doesnt blind other users so much.

Otherwise aftermarket high powered bulbs can give similar effects and some are still road legal
