The Alpine rally-winning Cooper 'S' from 1967 was road-tested at 9 secs. That had c.105 bhp and a 4.1 final drive.

thats absolutly rubbish! that much power and that diff should do it in less for sure.

ahh yes i remember now 22 secs is a bit quick, i do intend to make an 850ish with about 85-90hp this year (forced induction) :)

You'll be hard pressed to get 85 - 90 bhp from any 850. Even a supercharged one is unlikely to get to more than about 65-ish and that is at a high boost pressure.
One of the problems with an 850 is the lack of a suitable crank as the competition ones are NLA and very hard to find. I guess pistons could be an issue too. The 998 is a much stronger engine to work with and can be bored out to around 1061 cc without any problems and good pistons are available too.

true but i have a bit more faith in the 850 crank and i will go turbo but i may have to bore the 850 out because of the piston issue hence the "850ish" but i think 85 is easily achivable with about 12psi of boost (from veidence iv gathered and talking to people on the turbo forum ect). but i do have alot to look at because i know using the 850 has some downfalls but i would like to use an 850 in my 850 :dontgetit:

Yes, a modern developed rally mini should do, but you have to think about how heavy that cars were... (then add some impecision in the testing)

I havent Tested my 0-60, might do it this week, but i know i've had my 998cc off the clock.. its completely standard with a stage 1 kit on it. in pretty good condition at the moment so will give it a go :)

going off the clock though, revs were fine, got to around 100mph and my roof trim snapped off! =/

When my clutch is fixed I'll try it out... never tried before! Mind you she has a stage 1 kit and stage 3 head so is that cheating???
