Iv searched but i seem to come to the same answer everytime about earths and cables etc which i know aren't the problem.
iv fitted more than 10 stereos in my life 4 in minis and never had this problem.
Basically my girlfreind has a kenwood head unit running 1 set of vibe k series 175 rms 4 ohms 6x9s, works a treat no problems at all.
changed the headunit for a pioneer one and ONLY when the car is ON you get a crackling noise NOT A WHINING/BUZZING noise, and seems to be worse when you place the headunit near the main loom by the bulkhead (usual stereo mounting place)
so put the old kenwood one back in an its fine, so took her one back and swapped for a different pioneer model,
still the same problem. iv tried my pioneer one in hers but only for a few mins and didnt have a problem with that either.
cant take this head unit back unless its faulty which i dont think it is, havnt got another running car to try it in but for 2 different units from different suppliers to be doing the same fault seems too much of a coincidence
Maybe its something pioneer have inside there units that the kenwood doesnt. Would fitting a suppressor inline with her 12v stereo supply fix this?
stereo is getting a 12v fused feed straight from battery
earth is doubled using thick 17amp wire fitted to bare metal
speakers are wired correctly and wiring/speakers are brand new
Have tried resting the stereo on the passengers seat and drove the car around the block and got perhaps 1 or no interference at all but thats not very practical aha
Sorry for the essay but wanted to give you all the info i could
Thanks TMFers
