Hello everyone, Just thought I would add my restoration to the list. It may be classed as a little bit of a cheat as I am not doing the body work myself. At least not the the moment until I don't need to use the car as a daily driver. So here are a few pictures of the time I have had the car to date. I bought the car in August 2009 and this is my first mini after wanting one for more than half of my life.

Here is one of the pictures before any work started.

The next few are assorted pictures of the mini up close at the time I bought it.

So after this it was time for a bit of a wash and polish and enjoy the shows until the end of 2009.

During which time it was on the TMF stand a couple of times.

So then it was time for winter and enjoy the fun in the snow. At which stage after being kindly given a set of 12" steels the Sportpack 13" got put to bed for the winter and the steeld got fitted with a set of Hankook M + S tyres which made driving to work in the snow a breeze and great fun. I loved driving past all the big cars especially the so called 4x4's in the snow filled lane whilst they struggled up the hill.

Then at the start of this month my wife treated me to a wonderful birthday present and the wee car took a trip to Blakehill Body Shop.
And the next set of pictures are thanks to Rob aka 'frog' on here. I have to say what a great guy and managed to squeeze the car in at very short notice which worked out with a business trip which meant I was not without the car for to long.

As you will see from the pictures there has been a few interesting repairs done by a previous owner not sure which one.

And now the true state of the car becomes apparent.... Don't you just love previous owners who bodge repairs.

and they just keep getting better.

Note the winter wheels still on. I must get the alloys a new set of tyres and get them on especially with all this dry weather.

More to be posted as it happens.

A big thank you to Rob for the great work so far.

Here is the latest pictures form today.

Fitted a set of EBC Green stuff pads to help stop when I get it up to speed.

And then got the sportpack alloys back on.

Damm just when you thought it was safe to put the carpet back in to the car. What happens, yes my mysterious leak is still there so the carpet and sound proofing will have to stay out a little longer. On the plus side the sportspacks alloys have now got new rubber on them and so it is off round the garage over the weekend and get them fitted. However whilst I have the car up in the air I shall be fitting the new EBC Green stuff pads so that I can stop even better then before.

More pictures will follow soon and now it is time to plan when I can get the scuttle repaired and hopefully that will cure the leak.

Nice Mini...its surprising how quickly the newer cars rust. Mine's a 96 and rusted worse than yours. See my rebuild thread:

Scallywag, I have to say I am jealous of you. I wish I could do all the work myself but as I have to use the car for work some days I can't have it off the road for too long. The next car will be all my own work and hopefully will be something a little special. I had a look at your thread and yes yours looks a little worse then mine. I have to admit it is all part of the charm.

Whoa....I'm not doing the resto....I've never even held a welding torch, and as I want to give it to my son next year, I wanted it done properly. Its being done by Larry Powis, hes a member here and does the welding/bodywork for Wood & Pickett. I'm lucky that the mini is a toy so I don't need to use it daily...I have Rhondda the Honda for that..lol

Tiptop123 Thanks for the comment. The arches are sportspack arches.

Oh wow, sorry I haven't spotted this sooner but my Vernon-picture-dar only just twitched. So exciting! Your mini looked gorgeous at Malvern last time I saw it but it looks like it's going to be even more stonking next time! Looks like frog has done a brilliant job - that is an amazing present!!!

Can we have it on a stand please? Please? PLEASE? I want to do an excited dance around it in a stupid hat

You must be over the moon with your mini right now :bah:

I would advise caution letting Bec near it as you may find a Rover 25 where your mini used to be.....lol

Had to go and sit down with a strong coffee after viewing the rusty truth revealed above. It's how I fear Rocky may end up if we don't keep on top of it.

But a fine job! Have a load of fun!
