You standard tank is 7.5 gallons.
You can fit a RH tank which holds 5.5 gallons and that will give you very long range. If 11 gallons is sufficient you could fit the old twin 5.5 gallon tank set-up which still leaves a bit more boot space. LH 5.5 gall tanks are easy to find, although proper RH ones are a bit expensive.
If you get a genuine RH tank, you'll need the tank retention strap, a piece of wood for it to sit on (the originals had a small mounting plate welded onto the boot floor), some 1/4" metal fuel pipe, some 1/4" bore fuel hose, a 'T-piece', a rubber fuel cap grommet for the new hole in the rear panel and some fuel pipe clips. Also you'll need some 'P-clips' to hold the transfer pipe in place. The tanks are self-levelling as they feed 2-into-1 at the T-piece.
With 11 gallons on board you do notice the handling hange, but it soon uses the petrol.
