hey, i need to have my mini completley resprayed a diferent coulour( dunno what yet) and i've been priming and welding ready for a spray, untill the respray people quoted me around the £1300 mark and was wondering is there any shame in priming the whole mini and then waiting a year to afford it or should i attempt it myself? i have acces to all the neccercry equipment, apart from a place to do it
thanks, Dan

Only thing you got to watch is that primer is pourous.
Leave it in primer and the rust will come back through and you could end up with a rusty car again.
If your goign to leave it for a year.. your better spraying it anyway you can
with top coat to seal it..
if you fancy keeping the primer colour use a cellulose clear laquer..
so the panels are sealed
If they are charging you that amount for a spray job then why not try it yourself..
you could save a fortune, and it is not that hard.
You can hire spray booths for the day..
4 hours will spray and bake dry a preped car..!
If it all goes wrong, well car is not going to rust and your going to get it sprayed anyway..
Grab a book from the library or amazon/ebay on painting..!
or go pester a local small body shop, ask if you can help 1/2 day a week if you have the time.. get them to teach you how to spray/prep panels.. ok your not going to get paid but your going to learn some valuable skills..!!
