does anyone know if they still make the old style number plates at any of the mini shows? mine is made from ali with numbers rivited on.

Yes , however they will have a disclaimer written on them for show use only
does this mean that i will only be able to display them at shows? or can i use them on the road? or will they be illegal ?

cheers my plates are for a 1974 mini white background with black numbersi think this applys to black and white plates , not sure about the others , there is a good thread all about this , have a search

You wan to talk to Framtons if you want the old style riveted on number plates...
But yes you will need white background black letters on the front and yellow background black letters on the back
