Hi guys

I have just built a 1275 engine into my 1000 body.

I connected all the wires as I think they should be but I think I were wrong

I'm not sure about the coil wires and also that little black wire of the distributor as it started to melt as we tried to start it.

Can anyone please help or direct me in the direction of a wiring diagram for the old mini's

Sounds like you've connected the ignition live straight to the dizzy! (via a terminal on the coil maybe?) The wire from the dizzy (points) should connect to the negative terminal on the coil (-) via the loom. Check wots what with a meter if you can. The positive terminal on the coil (+) should be connected to the ignition live. If you have a rev counter wire this should also connect to the negative terminal. I would probably replace your points and condenser now aswel as they're quite possibly damaged after all the melting!
