My mini is off the road

My dads friend said he is going to do the welding but we are trying to get in touch with him to make sure that he will do it (at our expense) and i think its going to be kept outside, just wondering how much it costs to insure your mini for off road?

Just safety reasons really.

Incase it gets stolen or burnt/vandalised
Stolen - Not really much chance of that happening
Vandalised - Same really but you might be able to take out a TPFT policy on it for a few hundred , but do it in your dads name as it will be considerately cheaper.

Just put on on either parents/grandparents policy with a stupidly low annual mileage.

Some places do specialised policies for cars being restored depening where it is I think it's in the range from £15-£50 if my mini isn't sorted soon I'm looking at taking one out.

Think there was one advertising in the mini mags recently as well

I looked into this a while back, can't remember the actual term used, but was something like Laid up Insurance.

The car needed to be kept in a locked/secure building ( ie garage, lockup ) not on the driveway, but the cost was literally only a few pounds..

This was through Norwich Union as it was then...

I have my project 30 insured while it is in the garage for an agreed price through HIC, I think it came in at less than £35 for the year. I figured it was worth it in case of fire or theft of parts. Each to the own I guess. Matt

Last year i had a Lay-up insurance with Adrian Flux. It wasn't much and i could change it to full on-road insurance anytime i liked.
