Are we soon to see an end to modified minis? with the VOSA IVA test.

It makes me shudder when I look through the projects section, with folks with flip fronts, webber boxes & modded subframes, not to mention engine changes, are they all wasting their time and money continuing on these projects, especially you guys that are doing full resto's and have changed more parts that's allowed
What's your thoughts?

What can you get away with? without being pulled in for inspection
seems a damn shame if you ask me, as that what minis are all about, making them your own

I've given it all a cold shoulder.. I should probably read up about this as I'm one of the ones doing a full restoration.. with a 1 piece front flip, boot.. and lots of other renewed, uprated, upgraded and refurbished bits.

Is there a link to the original topic?

i think most people are going to bury their head in the sand until they get caught, thinking it's some one else that will get caught not them

It's been common practice for decades and decades over here. Everything you change needs to be approved by an TÜV engineer or has to have a TÜV certificate to make it legal. We can't just change a steering wheel or a set of alloys or tyre sizes, unless they are either allready registered to the vehicle's papers (by an TÜV engineer) or being approved by and engineer and registered to the papers.

And still people modifie theyr cars very extensive, get Honda engine transplants legalised etc. etc. - no, it's not the end! But it'll remove all those dodgy tinkered with unsafe sh!tboxes from the streets. And to be honest I like that idea! Eventhough it did cost me lots of time and money (to make my 1275 legal for example). :dontgetit:

Nothing will stop me enjoying my Mini. I'm not changing my flip front. If I ever get told off for having it I'll take the IVA and do whatever's necessary to pass it. Q Plate and all :dontgetit:

As already said, its like a can of worms, I will let it bother me when I get pulled if ever. Dont worry about it at the moment is what I say, the more people who get worried and start making enqurys the more VOSA will enforce it.

I just hope for everybodys sake, that you all get through without being pulled in for inspection, as I would be so disheartened if I had to lose my minis identity, then go through the hassle of IVA test then re test, it's a cost I could do without
