Model: 1000
Year: 1979
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible): Where does the positive battery cable connect to on the engine side, and what size is the eyelet? I changed the engines, and didnt reconnect the battery cable before towing it on a trailer, and I guess it fell loose of where it was, and wore the eyelet off the end of the cable. I cant seem to find in the Haynes manual where it says it attaches.
On a side note, where does the water temp sensor wire attach? I dont seem to have any extra spade connectors for it to attach to.
Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem? 1275 engine

The battery cable should connect to the starter motor, I believe there should be only one terminal on this model of car? Although it depends on the engine thats being dropped back into it. Temperature sender on mine (later model of engine possibly though) is up near the thermostat housing on the passenger side of the car, on the block itself thogh not the cylinder head, and has a single long wire poking out of the loom.

there is a small foot long cable that runs from the starter motor to the juntion bolted on the inner wing. am i correct in assuming that the battery cable bolts to the same post as the shorter cable on the starter?
and the water temp sensor is installed already with the wire on it. i just dont see where the wire attaches to the loom.

The battery cable should run from the battery to the solenoid (box on the inner wing) THEN another wire from a different terminal on there to the starter on the engine. I assumed you had already got the solenoid wired in and wanted the location of the wire from the solenoid. Ok. The 2 wires should be on DIFFERENT posts on the solenoid. Have a look at a wiring diagram to make sure you get the right posts, i havent had a mini with this wiring for about 4 years so cant remember which post is which.
I think that the wire you have already attatched to the temperature sender should not have been cut off the loom? I think they are usually not held in by a spade connectore but run straight into the loom without a join?
