a good secondhand 998 engine would probably cost less then £150, if the person your paying to fit (im guessing your not going to do it) knows what hes doing, then youll be looking at 10 hours labour tops, my work charges £40 per hour, so you should be looking at around £500, but on the other hand, why not hire out an engine crane, get and study a haynes manual and attempt it yourself, im only in ashford, so could help you if need be?

I have all the parts you'll want to convert to manual if you need them & am not too far away.

i found an auto engine and gearbox on ebay for £200. Its a metro engine he says its a better engine than the mini and its a straight swap is this true would it just be a engine out swap over any bits and new engine straght back in? does anyone one know if they are any faster or better on fuel that the 1300 mini?
