Mini 1000HLE
1982
Proper names for make and model

All Stock as built

Mart here from Solihull, first post but been lurking for a while and enjoying the rebuild threads.

I recently bought a Mini 1000 hle.

I did not get a V5, so I am filling in the form to apply for a new one.

I have found the vin plate and I can see BL Cars at the top, so I'm guessing I put the Make down as BL cars.
As for the Model: Should it be Mini? Or Mini 1000? Or Mini 1000 hle??

I'll probably just go for Mini unless anyone can tell me (with a degree of certainty) what I should put.

I have some more questions, but will post them separately.
Thanks in advance
Mart.

Most Minis of that era would have been registered as an 'Austin' (BL was known as Austin Morris, then Austin Rover during the 1980's). I'm sure your Mini has a few Austin badges if it is that original? Like on the steering wheel?

Apart from that 'Mini' or 'Mini HLE' would be fine for the model name.

Just to round off the story.
I applied for the V5, (with a downloaded form - that was handy) , sent off the £25 fee and waited. I received a letter saying my application would be processed on April the 12th. About a week after that, a brand new V5C dropped through the letterbox.
As I know the person I got the car from, I asked him if the DVLA had been in touch, and he said there was a letter addressed to his mum, (the last registered keeper) and it explained what was going on and to ring a number if anything sounded fishy.
(I warned him he might get a letter addressed to his mum - she's been dead 8 years or so, so i thought I'd better forewarn him.)

So thanks again for the help.
Mart.
