My brand new Mini Cooper makes a loud whirring noise when I accelerate in first and second gear and in reverse. It sounds like a golf cart or an electric window being wound up. The noise disappears as soon as the car's put into third gear but it is most intrusive when I'm doing short trips around town. Is this characteristic of the MC or is there a problem with my car?
