Engine Hitting On Bulkhead After The Engine Mount Was Changed

iv just replaced the left hand engine mount on my spi and for some reason the inlet manifold has started to foul on the bulk head which is makeing the hole car vibrate it also knocks when you pull away :w00t: any help would be great thanks :lol:

You really need to wait more than 7 minutes for a reply...

Did you also change the engine stabiliser bushes? Is it permanently touching or just knocking when you pull away?

the gear box ones have been changed a while back but not the engine stabiliser bushe no. it does it when you pull away it will also do it occasionlly when the steering is turned left or right

Replace the bushes, and get the subframe bushes checked over for excessive movement as well

As simon has said, get the engine steady bushes replaced as these can cause the engine to rock under load. Also you front subframe bushes are the teardrops at the front, the tower bolt bushes on the towers (one under the washer for the big bolt and one underneath, between the crossmember and subframe) and the floor mounts.

have you got an ultimte steady bar mount on the right hand side of engine passenger side

iv replaced the floor subfame mounts and gearbox steady bushes this week.iv ordered some pear drops. i havent got a ultimate engine steady. i couldnt get the bolt out of the upper engine steady as it has welded its self to the bush ao im gonna have to cut it off. :o thanks for everyones help :xxx:

Bolt in the engine or the other end, dont cut the engine side bolt whatever you do, they should move with a good dose and penertrating fluid and patience, dont go mad, just ease it loose then do half a turn one way then back again to loosen it up more as you undo.

right bit of progress made to day i replaced the upper engine steady, the engine isnt toughing the bulkhead as much as it was. i now only hits when you accelerate alot now i should be fitting the pear drop tomorrow so il see what happens then
