Model: 1987
Year: City E
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):

Ok, basically, when i'd driving, i can near constantly hear some squeaky noise coming from the front of the car. Then, randomly, every now and then, it'll develop into a real scraping and clunking noise, and the car will pull to the left for like a second or two, then it'll be ok, only for it to return again soon.

Anyone got any ideas? It's really getting on my nerves, and does not sounds healthy at all, it's pretty loud and horrible.

Cheers.

have you been driving round with it like that then?

Can you have a look at the hubs, brakes, cv's?

Yeah, i have been driving it around like this, for about 5 days, to sixth form and back. Should i not have been?

And on sunday im fitting a whole new interior with a mate who's a bit more car savvy than i am, will i be able to access all these things if i take the wheel off?

ask your friend on the weekned to check for wheel bearing wear/excessive play.

Ive JUST finished replacing the O/S front wheel bearing on mine. Its a pretty easy job, but then Ive done it before. The parts are cheap, but you do need all the tools to get the hub off.
The noise you describe was very similar to the squeal mine was making.I would get it replaced as quickly as possible. Check for play in them, it may confirm your suspicion. Good luck.

I don't suppose it could be the disc brake stone guard that's to blame as it's mounting bracket has sheared? If so bin the lousy things, because their useless.
