Hi everyone.

I have been look for steering wheels and I really want a deep deep dish wheel. Like a dift wheel. It would look good in my opinion and have the added benefit of allowing me to sit further back and still reach the wheel. (who needs to reash the dash buttoms anyway!)

The thing is, what nightmare am I going to have getting it to fit? I am guessing I would need to get a boss made or adapted? Can it be done? Who can do this? Any chance I could get an old Snap off mountney boss adapted to work? any idea of cost?

Thanks!

edit. I like the Nardi Deepcorn steering wheel 330mm wheel in black

if done right, i dont see why not?
but saying that, in a crash, and if it snappes then, hmm, nice image there lol.
i know with my old saxo i got a wheel which wasnt drilled and drilled some holes, but that was a D shaped steering wheel.

im sure ther's sumone on the tinterweb that sell dished wheels that arent pre drilled?

You should probably start by selecting your wheel, then inquire about hubs to fit it to the Mini. You didn't say what year Mini you are dealing with so I'll assume it is old enough that no air bags are involved. If that's the case, you should be able to buy a Mini compatible hub for your wheel.

If you can't find a Mini hub, there should be no problem using an adapter plate to go from one wheel pattern to another. Most wheels I'm familiar with use at least 6 fasteners on a bolt circle of 70mm or more. As long as you don't have interference between the two bolt patterns you should be OK. However, the cost of machining the plate is likely to exceed the cost of buying the correct hub in the first place.

It a straight forward bolt on job with a mini fitting boss.Often the most troublesome part is getting the old wheel off the column.

Cheers Ross.

ive got one of these fitted to mine, picked it up from MITP, nice bit of dish on them and can reach it easily with my seat full back.
you can get ones with more dish on them (see link below)
however they are pretty expensive unless you can find one at a show
