i've just got myself a Hif38, aanndd i was looking at the piccie posted by Asphalt on another thread. and i have a breather filter on the float vent, take it thats not a problem?

Also, i have another tube coming out of it, to the right of number 4 on the piccie, whats that for?

And last but not least, built into the carb to manifold mounting plate is another tube, i'm assuming for some kind of ventilation, any ideas? Cheers

4 - fuel in
5 - float vent
6 - crankcase vent
7 - mixture screw

im not sure about this but the one at the top in the middle is a vent pipe... linked to the front vacumn takev off on turbos. the one your talking about next to the fuel in is an over flow pipe i believe some hif44's are fitted with them some not.. rovert sd1s have them on though.

ya need a pipe leadin from your fuel overflow outlet to somewhere at the rear of the either left or right wheel arch, just make sure fuel cant leak onto the manifold (as its sittuated right above it!!) because then you may have a fire on your hands

do you mean the spacer between the carb and manifold.. ? if so you can take the dizzy off there so long as the dizzy or advance curve is the right one. there are two different types of hif's for the mini setup.. theres mini and metro ones.. mini ones take the vacumn off the carb on the back of the butterfly.. metro ones take the vacumn from the manifold side of the butterfly to advance the timing further from idle.iirc....

Camera found!!

Ok, so its the two things circled in red that i'm looking for info for

the one circled in green was where the breaher filter was

Oh, and dont drop an inlet manifold directly onto your thumb, it hurts

Would i not be able to just blank it off? or would that just flood the carb? I take it its there to stop over fueling anyway

ive got the hif44 on a 1275 metro lump and im not sure if it ever overflows fuel but i know i cant blank it off because it will just cause the carb to pop alittle so like minimad say's just plumb it to sensible place lol.

and get some pictures on when you have it fitted

cheers, biggles

I will do, but it'll be a while as i'm gonna be getting an lcb and rc40 kit from Moss at some point, however, welding needs to come first, i only got the carb and manifold as they were complete steals on eBay

Mates metro engine swap (Bubba1 on here) will be commencing next week, and we'll do piccies too for that
