Hey people, i was just wondering if changing your belt driven radiator fan for an electric fan makes a noticeable difference to the performance of your engine.
I have read a few things about it but they are all from the seller's point of view and i was hopping one of you guys have done this and recomend it??

cheers biggles

I've seen someone ADD a Kenlowe fan to their Mini before now (and remove the mechanical one) - you can even add in an over ride switch and control when it comes on/off.

I can't remember if I've seen a member on here add one to the inner wing - not sure if there is much room?

i think you wld only get a few horses in doing this. you could still rin the fan pulley to keep the same belt just without the fan.. its alot of trouble to go to for the sake of max 5hp??

Moss do a Revotec one that mounts on the inside of the wing, proper cut brackets for the job, think its around 160 with everything you need

But does it not increase cooling significantly?

what taking the mechanical one off and fitting an electrical one?? i dnt know personally.. i wld have thought the mechanical one is just as good. if you just wanted added colling just add a suction fan on the outside of the inner wing.

well they are all saying it improve's your economy and performance because there is less dragg on the flywheel and the cooling is improved and this cause's your motor to run better, im having a small cooling problem anyways it seams to want to overheat when im sat in traffic or idleing for a long period of time due to the lack of fan power basicly, so im gunna get it and fit the beast this week hopefully.
Ill report back and let you guys know if ya want?

cheers, biggles

Check your cooling system also.

Could run a seperate switch for it when you are in traffic etc.

if its just the problem with cooling your having then fit an electric fan to the inner wing, this will sort any overheating problems out

but i wouldnt bother getting rid of the mechanical fan

+1

I fitted on to my MGB... all those years of flushing the system and a simple fan fixed it!
