Each to their own especially if on a tight budget. Personally i would rather save up then get my car sprayed but those results look good.

I did follow that thread Bungle and i must admit that turned out really well. I think with something the size of the VW it would be a tad expensive to respray but your efforts have paid off with the roller.
The thing is we do use rollers to paint sections of civil aircraft paint jobs as you can imagine the size of a spray booth for a B747 is somewhat enormous. We don't go to the effort of flattening back (no real need) but the result is acceptable. I have to be happy with it as i sign off the job.
We use standard rollers and trays so nothing special apart from the paint which is polyurethane based. Probably a tad more expensive than rustoleum though

bungle, would you reccomend primer if im chainging from black to orange?

i painted white over the top of blue ok

you shouldnt need a primer if painting over one old colour with another as the orignal paint is a really good primer in its self you only need primer if you have exposed metal or filler

thanks both, will just rough it up a little, and filler/pull out the little dents etc
