Hello guys, new member, 1st question.
I bought a K-Reg British Open Classic, in Nov 09. Last weekend I upgraded to a nicer stereo (Sony). I fitted that carefully.
Everything was fine until it rained, hard. Then all of a sudden I get water leaking through the dash, coming out under the stereo head-unit. it was about an egg-cup full, maybe a bit more. I disconnected the unit straight-away, got home, had a feel behind and felt a bit of wetness. I cannot see where the water is coming in from, it seems to be coming from somewhere in between the middle of the glove-compartment(left-hand side) and the centre of the dash.
I've popped the bonnet, can't see any obvious areas of concern from that end, all the seals around any wiring seem to be in good condition. I thought it might be the left-hand spacer-thing next to the wiper spindle on the bit between bonnet and windscreen as it was a bit wet underneath so I taped that up to be safe. Even after that I still had some water collecting on the top of the head unit. I'm a bit concerned as I obviously don't want water pooling behind the dash.
I did a good search of these and other mini forums, found a few leaking air-vent issues but the metal-work around mine seems solid.
The sound-deadening foam-stuff does appear to be slightly loose, not fixed tight to the metal-work behind the dash, it might be touching some of the insulated wiring for the stereo but not too much.
Any ideas or suggestion would be greatly appreciated as following some severe haggling with Admiral after a Focus used my boot as a brake I'm a little short funds to take it to a garage to be looked at.

The shell often rots away under (and just below) the windscreen rubber. Common problem and means screen out to repair.
