>_< I have a big problem with my 1998 mini rover mpi. I repainted it and put the engine back in. It turns on fine and all the harness wire is plugged in except one that is (Black /Black green). I don’t know where it goes. I also have a problem with the light if I turn on the small light the turning signals work fine but if I turn on the headlights all for my lights turn on and the turning signals don’t work because they are on and also the lights for the turn signal on the dash stay on as well. But as soon as I turn off the headlight the turning signals goes back to work…can anyone please help this is driving me crazy….

Please indicate where the plug is located near, to give us a clue. Also, a photo?
Is the plug a multiplug connector, or is it a normalspade plug etc? is it two wires on the same plug - black AND black with green? are you sure it is not green with black? is the green light green or dark?

Bit more info required for confirmation

I think the black and black/green plug supplies power to the cooling fan - have you connected a plug to it yet?

One of the plugs is unused as it's for the Air Con (Japanese). I asked the same question some time ago - Clicky

I'm really impressed you have multicoloured wires. Out SPi has wiring that is universally beige (apart from the one that is beige & white). Makes failure searching a real bummer.

Yes, there is a black with green wire that goes from the ECU plug to the Mems relay box which is mounted on top of the brake servo. The oxygen sensor( lamda sensor) is screwed into the exhaust manifold. The plug you show in the photo is definately not to do with the lamda stuff.

Mini Paul smith ltd edition

1999 1.3 mpi

I was considering hijacking this post as i have a similar problem. If i put the side lights on everything is ok i can use signals wipers etc. If i put the headlights on the nearside headlight comes on dim and the offside one stays off. When the headlights are on the wipers don't work the stereo goes off and the signals don't work very strange!! I have traced it to the earth header under the expansion tank. It is a multiple spade connector and moving the wires caused the fault to go and come back all the earths for lights wipers etc go back to this point. i think I'm gunner cut it off and put some eyelets on a bolt instead.

Hope this helps with the strange faults on mpi lights

Chris
