I have a 1987 Mini City E 1000cc

My car has started to overheat quickly, all of a sudden. I have recently put radweld in, as my heater matrix was leaking a bit.

But now all of a sudden its overheating, will the radweld have anything to do with it?

maybe... overheating can be caused by a number of things though...

start with fixing the known problems... heater matrix for one... then flush the system out and see whats occuring..

Litterally i drove like 5 miles up the road to halfords, bought the radweld, but it in my radiator there and then, and then i noticed it started overheating.

WELL
The gauge on the instrument panel says its overheating and running at a high temp, but the engine does sounds like its overheated when i shut it off becasue normally it would "run on" as they say, wouldnt it.
May the gauge or sensor is abit dicky?

Could be a faulty bypass hose, look for signs of rusty water around the water pump area, could also be the water pump itself.

You can check with a thermometer - but seems too much co-incidence it started to overheat just after adding that muck to the cooling water! Bad move........

Only way to stop it overheating is to fix the fault. If its loseing water then theres no other way, if its not loseing water then it might just be the thermostat.

Have you noticed it losing any water? Or oil for that matter?

Check the obvious first.

Is there any air in the system ?
Does your heater get hot ? If not, there is likely to be air in there.

Has the head gasket (or even the head) gone ?
