bought a second hand cam off of a mate, now can't seem to get an oil pump to match it, as it needs a pin drive, and the only pin drive oil pumo that minispares etc do is for small bore engines, and i was planning to use this in my 1275. been told i need a cooper s oil pump. anyone know where i could get one? thanks in advance, Alex

276 is a great cam, i put one in my 1330, it was a slot drive oil pump. I think youve got one for a 998 or something small bore as if im right small bores are pindrive oil pumps.

Post a picture up of the oil pump end of the cam. And also what are numbers on the cam?

Maybe its just me but these cams people say are lairy i find tame as a kitten.

Even the 296sp just doesn't have enough bite.

Oh and in reply to your original question, they came with slot of pin drive didn't they.

What one do you have, that will determine what pump you need.

Part number GLP110MS if its slot drive. It really is a fit and forget part.

You will need a long shaft pump to use that in a 1275, and yes so in that way it is a Cooper S pump. If you have an old pump - you can change the shaft into a new one.

Hope you haven't brought it yet. Even the 296 isent as mad as it should be.

Id suggest a Kent cams mp310, a 45 weber on a very good head.

i dont want to go for a weber as i dont want to go chopping my mini about, i have an ex-race head, and yes i have already bought the cam from swifttune, and its fitted and timed in. i dont want anything too mad, the minis used everyday. heres what it says on swifttunes website:

A wilder profile than the SW5-07, the SW10 is Swiftune's version of the highly successful MD286, same characteristics, but more efficient on idle to help the MOT emission test. Expect a lumpy engine idle, 'off cam' until 2800/3000rpm with the real power from 5000rpm. Ultimately the SW10 will produce approximately 10bhp more power at full revs.

and ive driven a mini with that cam in as well, and when it comes on cam, you know about it, lol

although the 276 was a good cam, and i would reccomend it to anyone.

276 is a good balance of a Cam. If you want to drive it around it is pretty flexible.

Yup, I'd agree that that was a good choice of cam, not too wild that it won't idle and wild enough to give a good poke in the back.

Is that a specific requirement for the school run?
