i have a question, my mpi sportspack steering wheel i know can have a wood and pickett steering wheel fitted at a price! I also know a mg tf steering wheel will fit on my steering spline! But what other wheels fit? i did buy a mountney one a year ago but have now sold it on at the spline hole on the boss was too big, so i sold it on! can i not get a boss to go on without a special airbag conversion, as i plan to just turn it off! or do i have to change the steering column, which is not what i want to o, in order to fit a sporty steering wheel like a mountney! HEEEEELLLLPPPP!!

most people will say you may as well remove the airbag altogether as they go out of date or lose reliability (something along those lines) after 10 years.

but if i remove the airbag, will the spline the steering sits on have to be removed! to make sense of this, a mountney boss fits my other halfs car that is an 1984 city, and mine, the hole on the boss is too big and not tight enough! What steering wheels will fit?

Look for an aftermarket steering boss for the mgf/mgtf that way you can fit more or less any of the aftermarket steering wheels i.e. sparco, momo, omp etc etc (all the wheels which have the smaller ring/pcd of mounting bolts.

Heres a boss on ebay

Thanks! And this will actually fit on my sportspack mini? so once the boss fits, then the steering wheel can be of any kind? as long as that fits the boss?

yeah thats correct as the mpi wheel is exactly the same as the mgf/tf. i had to buy a new one for my old coopersport and ordered a silver/black one from minisport and when it arrived it had mgf/tf written on the box and fitted exactly the same.

According to that add i linked to the rover 200/400 is the same aswell but i cant confirm this though.

I definately know that an mgf/tf steering wheel fits the mpi steering column as a replacement for a standard mpi wheel as i have done this. That boss is for an a mgf/tf so should fit. obviously without having it to hand and actually fitting it i cant guarantee it.

If you look at wheels on ebay, demon tweeks, grand prix racewear etc etc you'll see there are generally two sizes. The classic mountney size of boss has a ring of bolts (pcd) which is larger than the momo pcd. There are literally hundreds of wheels available for the latter so it would take ages to list them all.

What style of wheel are you after? if its the classic mountney style wheel youre after the w&p kit is really your only option unless you want to buy a cheaper momo style boss and make an adapter

im quite happy to put a momo steering wheel on or anything else really! obviously a momo steering wheel will fit that boss, because its a momo steering wheel! But what other steering wheels will adapt to that boss?

heres a comparison between the two types the larger pcd mountey fitting looks like this

Posted Image

the momo is a lot smaller and has 6 bolts.

Posted Image

So if you look on demon tweeks website and look for any wheel which has the smaller pcd

http://www.demon-twe...ing_Wheels/1765

or ebay and do the same

http://motors-parts....d=p3286.c0.m282 (hopefully this link should take you to the correctsection of ebay)

if not its ebay>vehicles parts& accessories>car tuning & styling>interior styling> steering wheels and boss kits

So this wouldn't fit on the boss even though it has 6 bolt holes! Or would it?

no as it has the larger pcd. you could get an apapter made to make it fit but it would also have to incoporate the hooter somewhere. Iv not see a classic mountney style wheel that has the smaller pcd mounting

Ok fair enough!
I think the best option is to buy the boss and then when i go to a couple of mini shows, try and find a match in which i like which will go on the boss!
Thanks for your help!
