What would people recommend for a pedal kit for my r1 mini, the original clutch pedal needs to be replaced and looks like its a 4-6 week backorder. I was thinking of replacing the whole setup instead.

i am using this pedal box, there are issues...
Cons:
Mounting it is a bit of a mission, i have a race spec zcars frame which is very ridged but the pedal box itself flexes under full clutch down and hard braking. it passed the IVA but im not so convinced as it creaks sometimes...
the accelerator pedal is next to useless due to where you have to mount it, you just cant get the cable to be straight through the bulkhead without it kinking and making the cable sticky. (for a rear engine conversion at least)
i took the accelerator pedal off and used the standard mini one.
the reservoirs are cheap in construction and leak, i would buy better ones from the start.

Pros:
The pedal feel is good once fully setup.
The balance bar is good quality.

Do you have any picture of how you mounted it ?
Iam in the process of mounting mine , i have the race frame and no support on it for the pedal box so i need to weld some stuff

A agree about the OBP pedal box, i have one in my 16ver. It is not a mini pedal box as they state, it requires fabrication of all brackets to hold it on. Its also made out of cheese and flex's all the time despite bracing. However my throttle cable does go straight through the bulkhead without 'kinkage' in the gap between the subframe and chassis. All in all... don't buy one  lol. Really quite annoyed with how a company can make a pedal box made like this, sometime such safety critical shouldn't flex at all, especially if you need to be stamping on it! and yes the reservoirs aren't exactly fluid tight.

you should be able to see that i cut some 4 mm thick steel and bolted it to the back of the seams where the old dash card used to mount on top of. then at the front i bent and cut a lip so that it could mount where zcars used to mount the standard mini steering column.
i ended up having to weld and bolt a bit of angle to this plate as it flexed badly even at 4mm thick!
another tip is not to mount on exhaust mounts as they bend and take away your pedal pressure. i ended up cutting up some square tube and mounting it solid onto this plate.
in the picture you can see my effort at trying to route another accelerator cable before i ditched it.

Thank you for the info , i guess with all that it doesnt flex any more ?
I was going to fix it simply by bolting the back of the pedal box to the bulkhead and making a support bracket on the top , i guess it wont hold much and i need to go with the plate option and strenghning it .

does this mean the Willwood pedal box cannot be retrofitted very easily to a race spec kit? Or is it a question of not wanting to wait the 6 weeks?

the original question was just what aftermarket pedal kits worked well with the r1 kit since the clutch and gas are cable and not hydraulic. I just ended up finding a original mini pedal box on ebay and called it a day

yes and the willwood one is the best. but i just use normal mini pedals as well which are fine for perhaps a non race car that does not really get totally hammered all the time.
But i was adding to the post with the intention of extending it asking if it can be fitted without mods to the spaceframe?
Chrz
