Hi,

I have the Minispares Hilos and was wondering do I need to buy knuckles or do I use the plastic type thing which comes in the Hilo kit? Does that replace the standard knuckle completely?

Also is it possible to assemble the top arms with new cones, Hilos etc or will I need to get a cone compressor to assemble?

Thanks

Sorry, forgot I left this unfinished. You might get away with the existing knuckles, you can replace just the nylon cups (above) but new joints are only £3 a pop so it may not be worth saving a few quid against the time & hassle of stripping the suspension again.

You will need a compressor to remove the existing trumpets. Hi-Lo's make the job much easier - if you can't quite manage with the cones uncompressed they won't need much; so you may find a length of threaded bar (M14) does enough, saving a few quid.

So I do need knuckle joints then? :P I'll get them ordered. How about assembling all the suspension again, will I need a compressor for the rubber cones?

Thanks

Thanks Ethel, so if everything is apart ready to be put back together do the cones need to be compressed again to get everything in?

Thanks

It would have to help. I guess a lot depends on the rubber cone's condition. I can totally unload my front suspension by adjusting my (old style) hilo's but I'd need to compress the cone a bit or remove the bottom arm to get the hilo totally free from the cone. I guess it's a "suck it 'n see" It will be less fiddly with the cone pulled, firmly, up in to the subby tower for sure.

Hmm the cones are brand new so I guess it will make it a little difficult, I think I'll get a cone compressor then

Thanks for the help Ethel >_<
