Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):
second time with this problem, but slightly different now though but anyway.
i serviced my carb the other day and have got it to idle nicely, but i cant get it to rev higher than 3000 revs, i have put oil in the dash pot, timing is correct plugs are fine(pretty new) new leads too.
i only got the problem after i put the carb back on, i know that i put everything back together right too but i cant think what is wrong. im going to get my self new inlet gaskets incase there is an air leak, but any suggestions would be mega helpful! as i need the car working well before wednesday!!
thanks
Jack

Check your getting full throttle movement. Stick a brick on the throttle and see if you can move it further from the engine bay.

Can;t get over 3000 as in it stalls out or just don't go any higher.

it just wont go higher, sort of pops abit from the exaust when you get there.
what do you mean by stick a brick on it? haha
im pretty sure i have put the vacum pipe back on... is that the wire that goes from the carb to that vacum advance on the dizzy?

sounds like a fuel mixture problem then if the timing and everything else is ok, possible air leak between carb and manifold maybe.
if not try reseting the fuel mixture. double check timing. check the needle isnt bent,

I mean hold down the throttle pedal (with a brick) and check the carb end to see if the butterfly is all the way open.

im leaning toward air leak, cause i have messed with the mixture for hours and still cant get it any better, i got myself a seethrough spark plug to help me set it just right, hopefully after that it will be fine(fingers crossed).
the spacer to manifold gasket is actually two home made cereal packet ones might put a proper one in and see.

oh right, yeah i'll give that ago tonight cheers.
if its not is it just a matter ofpulling the cable through more?
