I was planning on flip fronting Elliot but now all this IVA stuff has come about I decided that I'd be better off with a steel front end, the problem is, I'd already chopped the inner wings short!

I'm seeking advice on the best way to replace them and make sure they're the correct length, height, etc. I've bought the repair sections, from M-Machine, they go right from the front back past where the damper mount is, so they're definitly long enough.

Should I be thinking about lining up the front panel and wings, getting them tacked in place along with the a-panels, then slowly cutting the inner wing patches down until they fill the gap between the front panel and the remaining inner wing? Or is this likely to leave me with a front end thats not quite the same length as normal?

Is there enough strength if I bolt the front panel to the subframe and then just go about fitting the wings? So I can fill the inner wing gap in once the wings and front panel are welded together?

I'm completely unsure of the best way to go about this so I've left it until I've got the right information :).

Me and MinimadJonesy have just done exactly the same to mine. We used the shock mount as reference and took the inner wing back to there (as in the one on the car not the repair panel ). Lined up great.

The thought of going that far back scares me a bit in case the repair panel I got from M-Machine isn't as accurate as it could be.

Where did you get your repair panels BoboGib? I don't suppose you have any pictures of the process do you? Or even a picture of the finished article would be fantastic.

I appreciate the assistance .

Got mine from M-machine, it's all finished now so will get some pictures from under the bonnet and from under the wing. Fit was really good, the only thing I will say is they could have put a cutout in for where the wiper motor bulge is. We just kept measuring and trimming a little at a time.

Peter that is perfect! Where did your repair panel come from?

Tell me about it! The fact the dimple for the wiper motor isn't there is quite off putting. But if I repair it the way you and Peter have suggested it should be alright. Good to know that the panel from M-Machine is the right shape! I've had so many panels (not from m-machine mind) that just don't fit where they're supposed to that I didn't want to go welding it in and finding my front panel or wings ended up lop sided.

I think I'll go about it that way, get it all tacked up in place, then test fit the front panel and wing for that side to check its in the right place before I weld it all up completely.

It was a genuine panel from BMH. Bought from M-Machine if I remember rightly.

Can I trouble you guys again?

I've got the general position right but it doesn't come far enough forward at the top edge to meet the wing and front panel. However, the front panel is hitting it where I've indicated with the red edge in the picture.

Do I need to trim that edge down so that the inner wing does come far enough forward? The pictures in my log might give more detail as to the problem:
