hi

after a bit of help please ,just pyrchased a 1999 mini cooper ,paint code WED comes up as multi colour nnx/lqw , which translates to old english white /anthracite, but i have had an anthracite mini before and its definately dark grey/black colour this one is definatley dark blue/black any ideas if they did different shades of anthracite colour

According to the Sikkens paint code search there were 2 different Rover colours called Anthracite - then a bluer and a darker shade of the one you have. Best bet would be to get it to a decent automotive paint factors and get them to check it out,

been to halfords today , they mix their own paint and lqw is coming up as charcoal on their mixing scheme

If you want a perfect colour match then stay away from halfords, their paint mixing is dire. Find a local paint shop they will mix it spot on, either to the paint code or if you take the car or a panel (like a boot etc) they will match it to that, because paint fades overtime, not by much but noticable if you spray one area of the car and it shows.

There are 2 black colours used on the later models, one was charcoal grey the other is anthricite, the latter is more than likely your colour as it was used on the very late coopers.
