If its flange on flange gasket paper and maby abit of silicone.
If its a slide over one like mentionded above a decent exhaust clamp and silicone or gasket paste liberaly smeared inside the slide over pipe and on the out side of the other one.
Its all down to preferance i personaly hate gasket paste as long as she dont blow jobs a gooden most of them work.

Paper OR metal gasket material and use silicone when fiting it together. You dont need use high temp on exhausts standerd RTV silicone is fine.
personaly i would get paper gasket as its cheaper and easyer and use silicone when fiting it.
